Pasco County, FL – A major drug trafficking investigation in Pasco County has led to the arrest of six people and the seizure of 2.7 pounds of fentanyl, along with several other drugs, weapons, and cash, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).
Months-Long Investigation
The operation was carried out by the FDLE in partnership with the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators said the case began in June 2025 after a tip about an individual suspected of drug trafficking in the county.
Detectives conducted multiple undercover narcotics purchases, eventually leading them to Christopher Templeton, 36, who authorities described as a local drug dealer.
Disturbing Overdose Connections
According to the FDLE, the drug trafficking operation was linked to at least two fentanyl overdoses, including a 2-year-old child. Officials say Templeton himself directly identified one of the overdose victims to undercover agents.
Massive Drug and Weapon Seizure
On September 19, 2025, deputies and FDLE agents executed search warrants and made undercover purchases, recovering:
- 2.7 pounds of fentanyl
- Half a pound of cocaine
- Quarter pound of cannabis
- 4 firearms
- Over $1,000 in cash
Officials emphasized that the amount of fentanyl seized was enough to potentially kill thousands of people.
Charges and Arrests
As per WSTP, the six suspects arrested are facing a range of serious charges, including:
- Conspiracy to traffic fentanyl
- Possession with intent to sell
- Unlawful use of a communications device
All suspects were booked into the Pasco County Jail and will be prosecuted by the State Attorney’s Office for the Sixth Judicial Circuit.
Sheriff’s Statement
Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco issued a strong message following the arrests:
“We are committed, alongside our law enforcement partners, to holding these people accountable who would introduce these terrible substances into our community. We have zero tolerance for those who would seek to cause harm.”
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities noted that this is an active investigation, and more arrests could follow as detectives continue to pursue other individuals tied to the trafficking network.
