Seattle, WA – A high-speed pursuit in Seattle took a dramatic turn when a suspect allegedly jumped a partially open drawbridge while fleeing police in a suspected stolen vehicle, authorities report.
Police Chase Details
The Seattle Police Department said that officers were pursuing a stolen vehicle when the driver turned onto a drawbridge that was in the process of closing.
According to police, the suspect bypassed stopped traffic, broke through a safety barrier, and made the daring leap across the gap in the bridge. Fortunately, officers did not attempt to follow the vehicle over the gap, citing safety concerns. The department said the following as per reports,
“It’s not the movies — we would never do anything like that.”
The vehicle was later found abandoned and damaged, and the suspect had fled the scene.
