Charlotte, NC – A 40-year-old massage therapist has been charged with felony secret peeping after allegedly using a hidden cell phone to record a client without her knowledge at a Charlotte spa, authorities say.
Incident at Silent Moments Spa
The incident occurred on Monday, September 22, at Silent Moments Spa on Park Road. According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) reports, the client had just finished her massage and returned to the room to get dressed when she noticed a flashing light near her backpack. Upon inspection, she discovered a cell phone recording her without consent.
The client quickly airdropped the videos to her device and left the spa before contacting authorities. CMPD investigators confirmed that the videos showed the therapist had set up the phone to capture footage of the area where the client had undressed, with one video allegedly showing the client partially unclothed.
Arrest and Confession
The suspect, Jarrod Crawford, 40, was arrested and admitted to detectives that he had set up the phone to record the client. He reportedly told investigators:
“It was a bad decision, was wrong.”
Court records indicate that Crawford had worked at Silent Moments Spa since March 2024 and had been employed at several other massage businesses in the area. He claimed that prior terminations from other jobs were unrelated to sexual misconduct, although at least one previous termination involved complaints from female clients.
Previous Complaints and Probation
Crawford had been placed on a year-long probation by the North Carolina Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy on August 21, 2025, following two separate complaints.
- February 2025: A client at Massage Envy in Gastonia accused Crawford of inappropriate contact during a massage session.
- May 2025: Another complaint from a client of Crawford’s mobile massage business stated he failed to ensure safety, comfort, and privacy during a session.
Charges and Bond
Crawford has been charged with felony secret peeping using a photographic imaging device. His phone has been turned over to the Cyber Crimes Unit for further investigation. He posted a $10,000 secured bond on Tuesday morning and remains in custody.
