Watauga County, NC – A collision on Pottertown Road has claimed the life of a local motorcyclist, authorities report.
Deadly Crash Details
On September 20, at approximately 4 p.m., the North Carolina State Highway Patrol (SHP) responded to a severe crash near Meat Camp Road involving a motorcycle and a Jeep.
The victim, 51-year-old Michael Lyn Holman of Elk Park, was riding a 1998 Harley-Davidson eastbound on Pottertown Road. While attempting to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone, Holman lost control of the motorcycle, overturned, and was struck by a westbound 2017 Jeep Compass.
Victim Transported to Hospital
Holman suffered critical injuries and was rushed to Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries on September 22.
Jeep Driver Unharmed
The 19-year-old driver of the Jeep Compass was not injured in the incident.
Road Closure and Investigation
Pottertown Road remained closed for roughly two hours while troopers conducted an on-scene investigation. Officials reported that impairment was not a factor in the crash.

No Charges Filed
After reviewing the circumstances, authorities confirmed to QCN that no charges will be filed in connection with the collision.
