Forsyth Woman Arrested after Police Pursuit; Stopped and Hijacked Another Car during Chase

Forsyth, GA – A 37-year-old woman was arrested Monday evening after allegedly stealing a truck and leading police on a dangerous chase across Monroe and Bibb counties.

Police Pursuit Begins

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), deputies were alerted around 5:20 p.m. that Tiffany McMurray, of Forsyth, was fleeing from Forsyth Police in a silver Chevrolet Camaro headed south on I-75.

Suspect Steals a Truck

Investigators say McMurray exited at Exit 186 and pulled into a BP gas station on Tift College Drive. There, she approached a man—who told deputies he recognized her from school—asking for a ride.

When the man refused, McMurray allegedly jumped into his 2007 Chevrolet Silverado and sped away as sirens approached.

Dangerous Chase Through Bibb County

Deputies spotted the stolen truck and continued the pursuit onto the Bass Road exit. McMurray reportedly ran a red light, nearly hitting another car, before re-entering I-75 south and later exiting at Riverside Drive (Exit 171).

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources Game Warden joined the chase near Riverside Drive and Hall Road. At that point, an MCSO deputy executed a PIT maneuver, causing the truck to spin out.

Arrest and Charges

Officers drew their weapons, ordered McMurray out of the vehicle, and took her into custody. As per reports, she faces charges of:

  • Hijacking a motor vehicle
  • Fleeing or attempting to elude police

The stolen Silverado was safely returned to its owner.

What do you think about the police response in this case? Should penalties for vehicle hijacking during a chase be harsher? Share your thoughts in the comments.
