West Plains, MO – A 1-year-old child has died from injuries sustained after being hit by a car in a hit-and-run crash, according to West Plains Police.

Police responded to the 800 block of Lanton Road around 7 p.m. Thursday, where they found the injured child. Sadly, the child died from her injuries the following day.

Suspect and Charges

Authorities identified the suspect as 20-year-old Russell L. Quinn, who faces a charge of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. According to the reports, the judge set his bond at $100,000.

What Witnesses Saw

Witnesses told police that Quinn backed out of a driveway and struck the girl, then fled on foot. Officers conducted a search of the area but were initially unable to locate the suspect. He was later taken into custody.
