Pearland, TX – A 16-year-old boy has been taken into custody after allegedly stabbing his 43-year-old father to death and then leading officers on a high-speed chase through Houston, according to the Pearland Police Department.
Discovery of the Victim
Police said they responded to the home of Willie Washington, 43, around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday after receiving a call about a possible death investigation.
When officers entered the residence, they discovered Washington with multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Missing Vehicle and Police Chase
Authorities noted that Washington’s pickup truck was missing from the home. Using a license plate reader system, officers located the truck and attempted a traffic stop.
Instead, the driver — later identified as Washington’s 16-year-old son — refused to stop, prompting a police pursuit through Houston.
Surveillance footage obtained by KHOU shows the truck spinning out onto a grassy area before coming to a stop. The teen suspect fled on foot but was quickly apprehended by officers.
Charges and Custody
Police confirmed they have probable cause to charge the teenager with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon of a family member. He is currently being held at the Brazoria County Juvenile Detention Center.
Authorities have not released the teen’s name due to his age.
Ongoing Investigation
According to investigators, another relative discovered Washington’s body earlier that morning. Pearland Police Public Information Officer Chad Rogers said the case remains an active death investigation.
