LIVONIA, Michigan – Police in Livonia used advanced technology to bring a stolen vehicle to a safe stop on Interstate 96 near Farmington Road, leading to the arrest of three suspects Thursday evening.

Incident Details
According to authorities:
- Around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025, Metro South troopers spotted a stolen Chevrolet Cruze in Detroit.
- The vehicle was followed westbound on I-96 into Livonia.
- As the driver attempted to flee, Livonia officers deployed the grappler, disabling the car quickly and safely.
Arrests and Charges
The driver, a 27-year-old man from Brighton, was taken into custody. He faces charges for possession of a stolen vehicle and had an outstanding probation violation warrant.
Two female passengers were also arrested. Police said both women had multiple warrants from different jurisdictions as per ClickonDetroit.

Lt. Mike Shaw of the Michigan State Police praised the cooperation between agencies and the use of technology in making arrests without the dangers of a chase.
“We continue to use technology to find and stop criminals in our communities. Thanks to the Livonia Police Department and their grappler device, these suspects are now in jail without the need for a pursuit,” Shaw said.
