Angeles National Forest, CA — Authorities have confirmed the tragic discovery of Sheylla Cabrera, 33, who was found dead in Angeles National Forest on August 13, a day after her husband, Jossimar Cabrera, was seen on Ring camera footage dragging a large object wrapped in what appeared to be a tarp or sheet.
Suspicious Discovery Leads to Investigation
According to reports from KTTV and KTLA, search and rescue teams from the Montrose Mountain Search and Rescue team responded to a tip in the Angeles National Forest and discovered an object wrapped in a tarp-like material, similar to what was seen in the Ring video of Jossimar Cabrera dragging the item away from his home.
“The body of Sheylla Cabrera was found wrapped in the same material,” the reports confirmed, leading homicide detectives to respond to the scene.
Husband Fled to Peru, Children Found Safe
Jossimar Cabrera, 36, was immediately identified as a person of interest in his wife’s death. Authorities later discovered that the couple’s three children were missing and feared they were in danger.
As reported by Fox News, Jossimar Cabrera fled to Peru before the discovery of his wife’s body, and local authorities are now working with U.S. officials to extradite him back to California.
If extradited, Cabrera is expected to be charged with murder. However, in a positive turn, the children were found safe in Peru and have been taken into protective custody.
Cause of Death Under Investigation
While authorities have not yet released a full cause of death, it is being investigated by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.
This case marks another chilling reminder of the dangers that can lurk within families, raising concerns about domestic violence and its tragic consequences.
