Fontana, CA — Two individuals have been arrested in connection with multiple hate crime incidents targeting Black victims in San Bernardino County, according to the Fontana Police Department.
Suspects Identified as Michael Razo and Humberto Silva
The suspects were identified as Michael Razo, 22, of Highland, and Humberto Silva, 24, of Colton. After several months of investigation, officers from the Fontana Police Department and Fontana Sheriff’s Station located the suspects.
Alleged Hate Crime Details
The pair is accused of targeting homeless victims at bus stops. In each incident, Razo and Silva allegedly used a blue Chevrolet Silverado truck to approach their victims, shooting at them with a paintball gun while shouting racial slurs.
In several cases, police reported, the victims were injured from the paintball gunshots, which authorities are treating as deadly weapon assault. The nature of the attacks led to the hate crime enhancement charges filed against the suspects.
“We believe there may be additional victims and we ask you to come forward to report these incidents to us,” said the Fontana Police Department.
Arrests and Evidence Found
On August 19, both Razo and Silva were arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and hate crime enhancement. Search warrants executed at their residences yielded evidence linked to the crimes.
Police Request for Additional Victims to Come Forward
Authorities are encouraging anyone who may have been targeted by the suspects or has information about the incidents to contact the Fontana Police Department at 909-350-7700.
“We are committed to holding those accountable for these types of crimes,” Fontana Police said.
This case is still under investigation, and police are urging the community to assist in any way they can to ensure justice for the victims.
