Cincinnati, OH — Police have charged an eighth individual in connection with the fight that erupted on July 26 near the intersection of Fourth and Elm streets in downtown Cincinnati.
New Arrest and Court Details
The newly charged person is a 45-year-old man, who has been issued a notice to appear before the Hamilton County Municipal Court. His court date is set for August 26, according to a Cincinnati Police Department release.
“The man has also been identified as a victim in this incident,” the release stated, citing Marsy’s Law, which allows victims of crimes to request that their names be withheld from public disclosure.
The individual faces a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct.
Calls for Additional Arrests
Community leaders in Cincinnati’s Black community have called for police to arrest a White man seen slapping another man in viral footage of the fight. While officials confirmed the newly charged individual is White, police have not confirmed whether he is the person seen in the video.
Background on the Charged Individual
According to The Enquirer via WLWT, Alex Tchervinski, one of the victims from the July 26 incident, confirmed to reporters that he was now charged with a misdemeanor offense. When contacted, he declined to comment.
Court records show that Tchervinski has prior convictions:
- In 2011, he was charged with assault after punching a cab driver in the nose and chin.
- In 2005, he faced domestic violence charges, later reduced to disorderly conduct.
- He also has a prior disorderly conduct conviction in Butler County.
Seven Others Previously Charged
Police have already charged seven others in connection with the brawl:
- Montianez Merriweather, 34
- Jermaine Matthews, 39
- Dekyra Vernon, 24
- Dominique Kittle, 37
- Patrick Rosemond, 38
- Aisha Devaughn, 25
- Gregory Wright, 32
“On August 8, six people were indicted on two felony counts of aggravated riot, three counts of felonious assault, and three counts of misdemeanor assault,” the report said.
Wright, the seventh person, faced aggravated rioting and aggravated robbery, both felonies, during an August 12 arraignment.
