Kansas City, MO — Two people sustained minor injuries Tuesday afternoon when a single-engine plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Johnson County, Missouri.
Emergency Landing Near Blackwater River
According to the Johnson County Fire Protection District (JCFPD), emergency crews responded shortly after 4:45 p.m. to reports of a potential plane crash north of Centerview. The aircraft was located approximately 200 yards off NW 501 Road, near the Blackwater River.
“The single-engine aircraft was found about 200 yards off NW 501 Road near the Blackwater River,” the JCFPD reported.
Flight Instructor and Student Pilot Sustain Minor Injuries
The two individuals on board — a flight instructor and a student pilot — were reported to have minor injuries. One was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for further evaluation.

Engine Failure Forces Emergency Landing
The flight had originated from the Lee’s Summit area, and an engine failure is believed to have caused the plane to make the emergency landing.
“JCFPD said the flight originated from the Lee’s Summit area and experienced an engine failure, forcing it to make an emergency landing”.
Officials confirmed that there was no ongoing threat to the public, and the incident has been fully contained.
