AURORA, Colo. – A multi-agency undercover operation in Colorado resulted in the seizure of 69 firearms and various drugs, as well as the arrest of 30 individuals, some of whom have been confirmed to be members of the TdA gang from Venezuela.
Details of the Operation
On Monday, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) displayed the seized firearms and drugs that were part of a significant operation conducted over the last 10 months. The operation was launched after Arapahoe County Sheriff Tyler Brown reached out to federal agents about a sharp increase in crime at the Ivy Crossing Apartments in Aurora.
According to undercover agents, the operation involved purchasing drugs and firearms from suspects at the apartments. The investigation even uncovered discussions about a potential murder-for-hire scheme.
Arrests and Charges
The operation led to the arrest of 30 suspects, many of whom are connected to the TdA gang, a violent criminal organization based in Venezuela. As reported by CBS, the suspects are facing federal charges that include drug trafficking, firearms offenses, and murder-for-hire.
“We have seen an impact of what true collaboration can bring. Not only through law enforcement but through the building of trust and assurance to the residents that their safety matters,” said Brown.
