HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – A tragic three-car crash in Huntington Beach on Sunday evening led to the death of a 15-year-old girl. Authorities say the crash was caused by an allegedly intoxicated driver.
Crash Details
The incident occurred just before 8:15 p.m. near the intersection of Edinger Avenue and Beach Boulevard, according to a release from the Huntington Beach Police Department.
Police said the driver of a westbound Honda Accord crossed the center divider line and collided head-on with a Lexus RX. At least one other vehicle, a Lexus GS, was also involved in the crash.
Injuries and Fatalities
The driver of the Honda Accord, a 44-year-old woman from Santa Ana, sustained major injuries and was rushed to a local hospital. Authorities noted that impairment is suspected as a contributing factor to the crash.
The Accord’s passengers, two 15-year-old girls, were also injured. One of them, a resident of Westminster, tragically succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. The other girl is expected to survive her injuries, according to reports from KTLA.
Injuries to Other Drivers
The other drivers involved in the crash also sustained injuries. The 23-year-old woman from Westminster and the 75-year-old man from Santa Ana suffered minor injuries in the collision.
