COLUMBUS, Ohio – A father from Columbus has been charged with murder after he admitted to fatally assaulting his 3-year-old son at their apartment on the city’s Far South Side.
Details of the Fatal Assault
Daniel A. Neal, 30, has been charged with murder after Columbus police say he used physical force that led to the death of his son, identified only by the initials “L.N.” The fatal incident occurred at an apartment complex located on Buckeye Circle, near State Route 317 and Alum Creek Drive.
Response and Initial Findings
According to a criminal complaint filed by Columbus homicide detectives, the boy’s mother called 911 shortly after 7 a.m. on August 18, reporting that her son was not breathing. Medics with the Columbus Division of Fire responded and declared the child dead at 7:11 a.m..
Upon arrival, detectives questioned Neal, who reportedly confessed to fatally assaulting the boy. The exact details of the assault have not been disclosed by authorities at this time, Dispatch reported.
Neal’s Arrest and Custody
