LODI, Wis. – A fatal motorcycle crash in Wisconsin left one person dead after the rider was ejected from their motorcycle during a collision with an SUV Sunday night, according to authorities.
Crash Details
At approximately 9:00 p.m., Columbia County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash on Lindsay Road, north of Highway 60, in the Town of Lodi. The crash was reported by an individual in an SUV who had been struck by the motorcyclist.
According to the sheriff’s office, the person in the SUV claimed to have attempted to locate the motorcyclist after the crash, but was unsuccessful. Upon arrival, deputies found the motorcyclist down an embankment, suffering from multiple serious injuries. Despite lifesaving efforts at the scene, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead by UM Med Flight doctors as reported by WAGB.
Cause of the Crash
Investigators stated that the motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Lindsay Road at a high rate of speed. When the rider attempted to negotiate a curve, they lost control, crossed the center line, and struck a guardrail before crashing into the SUV.
The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, was ejected from the motorcycle during the crash. Authorities also suspect that alcohol may have played a role in the incident.
No Injuries to SUV Occupants
Fortunately, none of the occupants in the SUV were injured. The sheriff’s office has not yet released the identity of the motorcyclist, pending family notification.
