Maysville, KY – A routine traffic stop in Maysville turned into a major drug bust Thursday night, resulting in the arrest of a local couple.
Traffic Stop Leads to Discovery
Police from the Maysville Police Department reported that officers initiated a traffic stop between KY 9 and KY 11 on Thursday evening. During the stop, an officer observed what appeared to be drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.
Upon further inspection, officers located 111 grams of methamphetamine inside the car.
Arrests and Charges
The couple, Kevin Lawrence and Jeannine Riley, were immediately taken into custody. WKYT reported that both are currently being held in the Mason County Detention Center.
Lawrence and Riley are facing trafficking controlled substances charges. In addition, Lawrence had outstanding arrest warrants in multiple counties, compounding his legal troubles.

Authorities emphasized that traffic stops can uncover larger criminal activity and praised the vigilance of the officers involved. “This is an example of proactive policing preventing dangerous drugs from reaching our community,” said a Maysville Police spokesperson.
