Los Angeles, CA – A fiery multi-vehicle crash on the 10 Freeway in West Los Angeles left five people injured on Wednesday evening, following a dramatic car chase involving suspects throwing car batteries from a stolen Lexus SUV.
Details of the Car Chase
The pursuit began in East Los Angeles when Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop a blue Lexus SUV. The driver fled westbound through downtown Los Angeles, with a passenger tossing car batteries out of the window during the chase.
Authorities stated that this reckless behavior could result in assault with a deadly weapon charges, as the thrown batteries posed a significant danger to other drivers on the road.
Crash and Fire
The chase came to a fiery end near Overland Avenue and National Boulevard, where the SUV collided with at least two other vehicles. As per reports, one of the vehicles erupted in flames, prompting a quick response from the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Injuries and Casualties
Firefighters reported that four people sustained serious injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals. A fifth person was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Among the injured were two of the suspects, who were also in the stolen vehicle.
