Scottsdale Police Seize Pink Cocaine, Ketamine, and $45K in Major Drug Raid with 2 Arrests

Scottsdale, AZ – Matsemela Zazu Moloi, 31, and Luke Asher McConnell, 26, were arrested on August 13, 2025, in connection with a months-long drug investigation by Scottsdale Police Department. According to court documents, one of the men is believed to be a significant supplier of cocaine and club drugs in Scottsdale.

Details of the Arrests

The arrests were made after Moloi was pulled over during a traffic stop, and McConnell was apprehended at their shared apartment. Both suspects made their first court appearance on August 14.

Investigators claim that Moloi sold an eight-ball of cocaine to an undercover officer on two occasions this summer. During his arrest, Moloi was found with cocaine and ketamine on his person, while his car contained bags of ketamine and a new designer drug, referred to as “pink cocaine.”

Drugs, Cash, and Weapons Seized

A search of the suspects’ apartment uncovered a substantial stash of drugs and over $45,000 in cash. Authorities found:

  • Cocaine
  • Ketamine
  • Amphetamine pills
  • MDMA
  • Mushrooms
  • A pistol

Additionally, police discovered a tackle box in McConnell’s bedroom containing ketamine, meth, and cocaine, with some drugs pre-packaged for distribution as per Fox10Phoenix.

Text Evidence and Drug Transactions

Police revealed that texts from McConnell’s phone showed evidence of ongoing drug transactions. A total of $34,000 worth of drugs and firearms were seized during the operation, further linking both suspects to large-scale drug dealing.

When questioned, McConnell denied knowledge of the tackle box and claimed he only sold marijuana and DMT cartridges, admitting he earned between $2,500 and $4,500 a week working in bars. Moloi refused to speak to investigators.

Charges and Legal Proceedings

Both men are facing multiple charges, including money laundering, drug possession, and weapons offenses. McConnell faces four alleged offenses, while Moloi has been charged with 14 offenses.

A judge has set a $100,000 cash-only bond for McConnell and a $250,000 cash-only bond for Moloi. Should they be released, both men will be subject to electronic monitoring. A preliminary hearing for the two suspects is scheduled for August 22.

The Dangers of Club Drugs and Trafficking

This investigation highlights the growing issue of club drugs, such as MDMA, ketamine, and the emerging pink cocaine. These substances are often used in party scenes and contribute to an increase in drug-related harm.

The case also underscores the link between drug trafficking and money laundering, as drug dealers attempt to hide their illicit earnings.
