Tucson, AZ – Tucson Police have arrested 26-year-old Timothy Ray Munoz in connection with a fatal car crash that occurred early on Sunday morning, resulting in the death of his 24-year-old passenger, Inez Marie Romero.
The crash took place in the 100 block of West Roger Road, where Tucson Fire responded to the call and provided medical assistance to both Munoz and Romero. Despite efforts to save her, Romero was ejected from the car and was declared dead at the scene.
Speeding and Loss of Control
According to TPD officials, witnesses and roadway evidence suggest that Munoz was speeding in his Tahoe when he lost control of the vehicle. The car hit a curb, crossed the road, and crashed into a block wall, coming to rest on top of a parked car in a nearby yard.
Impairment and Arrest
Officers from the DUI Unit responded to the scene and determined that Munoz was impaired at the time of the collision, according to KGUN.
On Wednesday, officers from the Operations Division West Community Response Team located Munoz at his home and arrested him. He has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder and felony Criminal Damage. Munoz is currently being held in Pima County Jail on a $750,000 bond.
