Columbus, GA – A months-long joint operation between the Columbus Police Department’s Special Operations Unit and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has resulted in the arrest of a 34-year-old man on multiple drug and firearm charges.
Authorities confirmed that Joshua Alexander was taken into custody on August 7, 2025, after a search warrant uncovered a significant quantity of illegal drugs, cash, and a firearm.
Large Quantities of Drugs and a Firearm Seized
During the search, investigators confiscated 3,428.2 grams of methamphetamine, valued at approximately $154,269 on the street. They also recovered 23.3 grams of cocaine worth around $1,165, $2,450 in cash, and a Springfield XD 9mm handgun.
As reported, the firearm is suspected to have an altered identification number, adding to the seriousness of the charges.
Multiple Charges Filed
Alexander is facing a range of charges, including:
- Trafficking Methamphetamine
- Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime
- Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
- Criminal Use of an Article with Altered ID (Firearm)
- Possession of Drug-Related Objects
- Obstruction (Misdemeanor)
Court records indicate that Alexander has prior felony convictions, making the firearm possession charges even more severe.
