Unlicensed Chiropractor Sent to Jail in Harris County after Sexually Assaulting 12 Women (1)

Harris County, TX – A man posing as a chiropractor has been arrested in Harris County after being accused of sexually assaulting at least 12 patients, including a postpartum woman seeking relief for pelvic pain. Authorities say more victims may still come forward.

Arrest Stems from 2023 Assault at One Life Chiropractic

The case centers on Joshua Gomez, who allegedly assaulted a woman in 2023 at One Life Chiropractic in Katy, where he was working despite having surrendered his chiropractic license in 2019. The woman, who was several weeks postpartum, had purchased a package to treat pubic misalignment.

As reported by Click2Houston, she told police she had concerns about the lack of specialized care and expressed these concerns to clinic staff.

Gomez, who had not treated her before, then offered to evaluate her. During a session, he allegedly used a Graston Tool and inappropriately touched her, at one point reportedly saying, “This is where it gets spicy.”

Pattern of Misconduct Alleged by Multiple Survivors

After the incident, the woman reported the misconduct to Gomez’s brother, the clinic owner, who refunded her payment. She then contacted the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners, which confirmed Gomez had a history of similar allegations and had relinquished his license in 2019 amid a sexual misconduct investigation.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office has since confirmed that at least 12 survivors have come forward with similar accusations. Investigators believe additional victims may still be unidentified.

Clinic Owner Claims No Knowledge of Brother’s History

The clinic, owned by Gomez’s brother, claims that Joshua Gomez was only involved in patient care without proper authorization. The brother told detectives he was unaware of his sibling’s surrendered license and insisted his role was limited to paperwork and operations, not medical treatment.

Nonetheless, officials are investigating how Gomez was allowed to operate in a hands-on capacity at the clinic without valid credentials.

Legal Action and Public Appeal for Information

Joshua Gomez is currently being held in the Harris County Jail on $75,000 bond. A news conference is scheduled for 10 a.m. tomorrow, where authorities are expected to release more details on the investigation.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who may have been a patient of Gomez or who has relevant information to come forward and help expand the case.

Warning Signs and How to Protect Yourself

Cases like this highlight the importance of:

  • Verifying practitioner credentials before treatment
  • Reporting uncomfortable or inappropriate behavior immediately
  • Not assuming that clinic employment equates to licensure
  • Trusting your instincts — if something feels wrong, speak up
