Union Man Arrested for Firing at Grandmother, Toddler, and Infant Outside Home

Union, SC — A 22-year-old man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after allegedly firing gunshots at a woman and her two young grandchildren — including a two-month-old baby — as they stood in their front yard, according to police.

Suspect Opened Fire from a Moving Vehicle

The incident occurred on Saturday, June 7, on the 400 block of Foster Street within Union city limits. According to arrest warrants, Kemahgee O’Neal Jeter allegedly fired multiple shots from a moving vehicle, targeting a grandmother, her 2-year-old grandchild, and a 2-month-old infant.

Remarkably, no injuries were reported.

Arrest Made Weeks Later at Suspect’s Job

Investigators with the Union Police Department identified Jeter as the suspect following their investigation. He was arrested on July 31 at his place of employment, over seven weeks after the shooting.

Police have not confirmed whether Jeter knew the victims prior to the attack as reported by Fox8.

Multiple Charges Filed

Jeter is facing several felony charges, including:

  • Three counts of attempted murder
  • Discharging a firearm into a dwelling
  • Possession of a weapon during a violent crime

He was booked into a detention center shortly after his arrest.

Community Left Stunned by Violence

The shooting, which endangered two young children and their caretaker, has shocked many in the Union community. While no injuries occurred, law enforcement emphasized the potential for tragedy.

“Any act of violence that puts children at risk is absolutely intolerable,” officials stated in a follow-up.

The case remains under active investigation. Police have not announced whether additional suspects or motives are being considered.
