Ohio Parents Arrested after Threat Allegations, Drunk Driving Stop, and Loaded Firearms Found in Car with Children

Solon, OH – A disturbing chain of events in Solon, Ohio, has resulted in the arrests of both parents of three young children, after police say one parent allegedly made violent threats while the other was later caught driving intoxicated with loaded firearms inside the vehicle.

Mother Arrested Following Alleged Threats at Apartment Complex

According to a police report obtained by Fox 8 News (WJW), Summer R. Davis, 32, was arrested on December 28, 2025, after being questioned by officers at the Solon Police Department. Davis was accused of making threatening statements during a confrontation at a local apartment complex earlier that day.

Police said a 28-year-old man called 911, reporting that his ex-girlfriend — later identified as Davis — had been sending repeated messages and making continuous phone calls. When he stopped responding, authorities say Davis allegedly showed up at the apartment he shared with his 34-year-old brother and a 28-year-old woman.

Investigators allege that Davis began banging on the apartment door, escalating the situation. The female resident later told officers that Davis threatened to shoot her, prompting her to request a protection order.

Davis Denies Threats but Is Charged

After being identified, Davis voluntarily went to the Solon Police Department to speak with investigators. During questioning, she denied making any threats, according to police. Despite her denial, officers charged her with menacing, a misdemeanor offense, and placed her under arrest.

Police reports state that Davis arrived at the station with her three children, ages 4, 5, and 12, who remained with her during the initial questioning.

Father Called to Pick Up Children Appears Intoxicated

Concerned for the children’s well-being, officers contacted their father, Harold Jenkins, 33, and asked him to come to the station to retrieve them. Police said officers monitored the children inside the station until Jenkins arrived.

However, when Jenkins showed up, officers immediately noticed signs of impairment. According to police, Jenkins appeared intoxicated while at the station.

Despite concerns, Jenkins was allowed to place the children in his vehicle. As he drove away from the station, officers observed him drive over a curb, prompting them to initiate a traffic stop.

Traffic Stop Leads to Second Arrest

During the stop, police said the vehicle smelled of alcohol and cannabis, and Jenkins’ speech was slurred. Officers asked Jenkins to submit to a breath test, which he refused at the scene, according to the report.

The situation escalated further when Jenkins informed officers that there were weapons inside the vehicle — with the children still present.

Loaded Firearms Found Near Children

Police allege they discovered a loaded semi-automatic rifle in the front seat, directly next to where the 12-year-old child had been sitting. A loaded semi-automatic pistol was also found inside the vehicle.

Given the circumstances, Jenkins was immediately taken into custody.

Serious Charges Filed Against Father

Harold Jenkins was booked into jail at the Solon Police Department and charged with multiple offenses, including:

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated
  • Improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle
  • Endangering children

Police confirmed that Jenkins’ driver’s license was immediately suspended following his arrest.

Following the arrests of both parents, authorities confirmed that the three children were placed into the custody of their grandmother to ensure their safety.

Child welfare services are expected to review the situation as the legal cases proceed.

Both Davis and Jenkins later posted 10% of their respective $2,500 bonds and were released from jail. As of the latest report, their next court dates have not been made public.
