Louisville, KY – A Nebraska man was taken into custody on Monday night, Dec. 22, 2025, after authorities say they discovered more than 55 pounds of methamphetamine packaged to resemble Christmas presents, law enforcement confirmed.
Large-Scale Narcotics Investigation Leads to Arrest
The Jeffersontown Police Department reported on Facebook that officers, in collaboration with the Kentucky State Police (KSP) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), had been investigating 23-year-old Jacob Talamantes at the 11500 block of Bluegrass Parkway.
According to authorities, Talamantes arrived in a vehicle and attempted to leave the area but was detained outside a nearby business as part of a coordinated operation.
Methamphetamine Found Gift-Wrapped
Court documents reveal that law enforcement deployed K9 units to search Talamantes’ 2013 Chevrolet Malibu, which led to the discovery of over 50 pounds of suspected methamphetamine in the trunk. The drugs were hidden inside intricately wrapped packages, boxes, and bags, designed to look like holiday gifts, though investigators noted they were without ribbons or tags.
Talamantes allegedly admitted that he was transporting the meth from Iowa for the purpose of distribution.
Charges and Bond
Talamantes was arrested and charged with trafficking in more than 2 grams of methamphetamine. He is currently lodged in the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections with a $75,000 cash bond.
He is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 2, 2026.

Officials emphasized that law enforcement remains vigilant during the holiday season, as traffickers sometimes use creative methods to transport illicit drugs. Authorities are urging the public to report suspicious activity to local police or the DEA.
