Houston Man Arrested in Series of Vehicle Burglaries Targeting Purses, Deputies Say

Houston, Texas – Authorities in northwest Harris County have arrested a suspect believed to be responsible for a series of vehicle burglaries that left multiple victims without their personal belongings just days before the holidays. Investigators say the suspect targeted parked vehicles and specifically stole purses, prompting swift action by law enforcement.

Deputies Respond to Multiple Vehicle Burglaries

According to officials, the incidents were reported on Dec. 23, 2025, when deputies responded to multiple burglary-of-a-motor-vehicle calls across northwest Harris County. The first reports came from the 14600 block of Spring Cypress Road, followed by another incident in the 16000 block of Mason Road.

In each case, victims told deputies that their vehicles had been forcibly entered and that purses were stolen from inside, said Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman. Authorities noted similarities between the incidents, raising concerns that the crimes were connected.

Investigation Leads to Identified Suspect

Deputies immediately began investigating the cases by conducting victim interviews and reviewing surveillance footage from nearby homes and businesses. That evidence helped investigators identify a single suspect believed to be responsible for all three burglaries.

Law enforcement later identified the suspect as Ramon Daniel, 27, and patrol officers were able to locate and stop him during a follow-up encounter. Officials said the stop was conducted without incident.

Full Confession and Evidence Recovered

During questioning, investigators said Daniel provided a full confession, admitting his involvement in all three vehicle burglaries. Authorities also recovered a window punch tool in his possession, a device commonly used to quickly break car windows during vehicle break-ins.

Deputies say the tool further linked Daniel to the crimes and supported the victims’ statements about how their vehicles were entered.

Arrest and Criminal Charges Filed

Following the confession and evidence recovery, Ramon Daniel was placed under arrest and transported to the Harris County Jail. He has been formally charged with three counts of burglary of a motor vehicle, according to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office.

Officials confirmed that Daniel’s bond was set at $300, though no court date has yet been announced.

Constable’s Office Issues Warning to Residents

In a Facebook post announcing the arrest, Constable Mark Herman referred to Daniel as “The Grinch Who Stole Purses,” a nickname highlighting both the nature of the crimes and the timing during the holiday season.

Constable Herman also used the announcement to remind residents to take steps to protect their vehicles and belongings, especially during busy travel and shopping periods.

Law enforcement strongly advises drivers to lock their vehicles, avoid leaving purses, wallets, or valuables inside cars, and park in well-lit areas whenever possible. Even short stops can provide opportunities for thieves, deputies warned.

Officials are encouraging anyone who may have experienced a similar burglary in the area around Spring Cypress Road or Mason Road to contact the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office, as investigators continue reviewing reports to determine whether additional cases may be connected.
