West Allis Police Pursuit Ends with Multiple Arrests, No Serious Injuries

West Allis, Wisconsin – A high-speed police chase through a West Allis neighborhood early Sunday morning, December 21, ended with two heavily damaged vehicles, debris strewn across the street, and three suspects taken into custody, authorities confirmed.

Chase Unfolds Near 80th and Morgan

The incident occurred near 80th and Morgan, where neighbors reported being jolted awake by crashing metal and sirens.

“I heard a large bang,” said Keith Brenaman, a resident. “I ran outside, I saw the car overturn. It was smoking.” Brenaman said he saw a man inside the overturned vehicle and tried to reassure him while waiting for help.

Just around the corner, a second crash occurred as another vehicle came to a violent stop.

“I looked out the front window and there was a car at the end of my driveway with the front end all smashed up,” said Brian Smallwood, a neighbor.

Neighbors believe the second vehicle, fleeing from police, collided with the first car before both came to rest. Debris, including broken headlights, a discarded tire, and deep tire tracks through the snow, was still visible hours later, with marks leading into a nearby snowbank where the suspects’ vehicle ultimately crashed.

Stolen Vehicle Linked to Armed Robbery

West Allis police said the chase began after officers attempted to stop a vehicle reported stolen out of Milwaukee, which was also linked to an armed robbery.

When officers initiated the traffic stop, the suspects fled, prompting a pursuit through residential streets.

“A couple of guys started jumping out. [They] started running towards my door, and so I slammed it shut,” said Debbie Ulbing, another neighbor. Brian Smallwood added, “Two of them went up my neighbor’s driveway this way and then one went up my driveway.”

Three Suspects Arrested, Gun Recovered

Police eventually located and arrested all three suspects, and a gun was recovered at the scene. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported, despite the violent nature of the crashes.

Neighbors described the scene as chaotic and frightening, noting it was unlike anything they had experienced. Many expressed hope that such an incident does not happen again in their neighborhood.
