Gelato Shop’s Mobile Cart Crashed by Driver, Thousands in Damages and Bookings Canceled

Scottsdale, AZ – A gelato shop in Scottsdale is facing significant financial losses after a car crashed into its new mobile vending cart, forcing the cancellation of several catering and wedding bookings. Authorities say fortunately, no one was seriously injured in the incident.

Crash Occurs Outside Allora Gelato

The incident happened around 8:50 a.m. outside Allora Gelato, located near Scottsdale Road and Shea Boulevard. The shop, which has been open for just over a year, recently launched its mobile gelato cart in October to support catering and wedding events.

Scottsdale Police reported that the driver, described as an older woman, did not sustain serious injuries. Shop employees believe the driver accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brakes, sending the vehicle directly into the cart.

Kendrick Blair, an employee, said, “Thankfully, they were able to miss the building and the tree. But in doing so, they ran right into the gelato cart.

Timing Prevented Injuries

Co-owner Ciara Jarosch expressed relief that the crash occurred early in the morning before the courtyard became crowded with customers.

Thank goodness there was no one here. Every day there are people sitting out here in the courtyard. She didn’t run into our business, which is a blessing,” Jarosch said.

Significant Investment Damaged

The gelato cart, imported from Italy, represented a major investment for the shop. Co-owner Lalo Fuentes noted that the total cost, including shipping, crating, and tariffs, reached “sports car territory.”

The shop has temporarily paused mobile operations to assess the damage, and five bookings had to be canceled, with refunds issued to clients.

Blair explained, “We actually had five bookings before we even had the cart here in the United States. But sadly, for the next couple of months, or however long it takes us to repair the gelato cart, we’ve had to cancel those bookings.

Hopes for Repair

Despite the setback, Fuentes remains optimistic about the cart’s future: “Hopefully we can repair it or bring it back to life.

The shop encourages patience from customers as they navigate repairs and reschedule events affected by the crash.
