The crash took place shortly after 5:30 p.m. near milepost 127 in Deschutes County. Investigators report that William Sargent, 79, was driving a Chrysler Pacifica southbound when, for reasons currently unknown, he veered into the opposite lane.
Sargent’s vehicle sideswiped a Range Rover and a Chevrolet Tahoe before colliding head-on with a semi-truck. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but Sargent was declared dead at the scene.
