Indianapolis, IN – A months-long investigation by local and federal law enforcement agencies has culminated in the seizure of more than 250 pounds of illegal drugs and the arrest of two individuals allegedly responsible for a large-scale drug trafficking operation in central Indiana.
Coordinated Investigation Targets Indy Drug Network
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), in coordination with the Indiana State Police (ISP) and the DEA, announced on Thursday the successful conclusion of an extensive investigation into a local drug trafficking organization. Authorities say the operation was run by Devin Wilson, 39, and Michael Wilson, 37, who were distributing significant quantities of narcotics throughout the area.
“These arrests are the result of months of relentless, coordinated work by our investigators and partner agencies,” said IMPD Lieutenant Gough. “Taking this amount of deadly narcotics and illegal firearms off our streets has a real, lasting impact. It sends a clear message that we will continue working together to hold those who harm our community accountable.”
Chase Leads to First Arrest
On December 11, ISP troopers attempted to pull over a truck suspected of being driven by Devin Wilson. Instead of stopping, the driver led officers on a short pursuit. After eventually pulling over, Devin was taken into custody without further incident.
During the pursuit, authorities say Devin allegedly threw several grams of fentanyl out of his car window, compounding the seriousness of the charges he now faces, which include:
- Possession of a narcotic
- Dealing in narcotics
- Resisting law enforcement
Major Drug Seizures Executed at Southeast Side Homes
Later that day, detectives executed search warrants at two residences on Indianapolis’ southeast side. Investigators reportedly recovered a staggering cache of illegal substances and contraband, including:
- 1.5 kilograms of fentanyl
- 3.5 pounds of methamphetamine
- 424 grams of MDMA
- 165 pounds of marijuana
- 124 pounds of marijuana vapes
- 4,000 prescription pills (Oxycodone, hydrocodone, and Xanax)
- 5 firearms, two of which were confirmed stolen
- Approximately $90,000 in cash
The evidence collected also led to the issuance of an arrest warrant for Michael Wilson.
Second Arrest and SWAT Involvement
Less than a week later, on Wednesday, December 17, detectives located Michael Wilson and executed his arrest with assistance from SWAT teams. Michael is facing preliminary charges including:
- Dealing in narcotics
- Dealing in methamphetamine
- Dealing in marijuana
- Unlawful firearm possession by a serious violent felon
Both Michael and Devin are now held in the Marion County Jail without bond. Court proceedings are scheduled as follows:
- Michael Wilson: December 22, Marion Superior Court 20
- Devin Wilson: December 30, Marion Superior Court 7
