Rising Sun Woman Charged with Murder of Infant Daughter; Autopsy Reveals Trauma in Infant Death

Rising Sun, MD — A Cecil County woman, Destiny Faith Chiveral, 24, has been charged with the murder of her five-week-old daughter, according to the Maryland State Police. Chiveral, from Charlestown, Maryland, faces multiple charges, including:

  • First-degree murder
  • First-degree child abuse resulting in death
  • Additional related offenses

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.

Investigation Unfolds After 911 Call

The case began after law enforcement and emergency medical services (EMS) responded to a 911 call shortly after 9 a.m. on December 4. The call came from the unit block of Leedle Circle in Rising Sun, Maryland.

Upon arrival, EMS personnel pronounced the infant deceased at the scene.

An autopsy conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore revealed evidence of trauma, prompting further investigation.

Evidence Collection and Probable Cause

The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit, in consultation with the Office of the Cecil County State’s Attorney, executed search warrants for Chiveral’s phone, person, and two residences.

Authorities say evidence recovered during these searches provided probable cause for the charges against Chiveral.

She was arrested without incident and processed at the North East Barrack. Chiveral made an initial appearance before a district court commissioner and is currently held without bond at the Cecil County Detention Center, awaiting further court proceedings.

Community and Law Enforcement Response

The Maryland State Police emphasized that the investigation remains active, and additional details may be released as the case develops.

Officials also noted the importance of community vigilance in reporting suspicious activity or signs of abuse to help protect children from harm.
