Two Suspects Arrested after High-Speed Chases End with Spike-Strip Stop in Northern Nevada

Reno, Nevada — Two individuals are behind bars following a two-part high-speed pursuit that unfolded Thursday morning in northern Nevada, ending only after Nevada State Police (NSP) troopers deployed spike strips to halt a fleeing pickup truck.

The incident began around 8:21 a.m. on Thursday, December 11, when Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) troopers attempted to pull over a white pickup truck near I-580 and South Meadows Parkway in Reno. Instead of stopping, the driver accelerated rapidly, fleeing at high speed and disappearing from the scene.

Second Sighting Sparks Another Chase

Roughly two hours later, at approximately 10:30 a.m., law enforcement spotted the same white pickup near Eastlake Boulevard and 395A. Once again, the driver refused to stop, launching a second high-speed chase and putting multiple motorists at risk.

Troopers coordinated to end the pursuit safely. They ultimately deployed Stop Sticks—commonly known as spike strips—on the roadway. The fleeing vehicle struck the spikes, causing its tires to deflate, but the driver continued to push forward for nearly one more mile.

The chase concluded near 395A and Tinhorn Road, where the vehicle veered off to the right side of the road and finally came to a halt.

Highway Closures as Troopers Secure the Area

During the immediate investigation following the stop, 395A was temporarily closed in both directions between Eastlake Boulevard and Pagni Lane. This closure allowed troopers to pursue leads, search the vehicle, and secure the surrounding area.

Authorities have since reopened all lanes, restoring traffic flow through the corridor.

Investigation Ongoing; Identities Not Yet Released

According to the NSP Investigations Division, the case remains active, and additional details—including whether more individuals are connected to the pursuit—are still under review.

At this time, police have not yet identified the two suspects taken into custody, and no further information about potential charges has been released.

Officials emphasize that more updates will be provided once investigators confirm the full scope of the incident and determine whether additional suspects or criminal elements are involved.
