Baltimore, MD — A violent weekend across the city left three people dead and several others injured, prompting renewed concern even as officials highlight major year-over-year crime reductions. Baltimore Police confirmed that at least five separate shootings unfolded between Friday and Sunday, including a quadruple shooting inside a Southwest Baltimore home and the wounding of a 17-year-old in East Baltimore.
Rising Tension Despite Overall Crime Decline
Baltimore police spent the weekend responding to multiple shootings across the city, marking one of the deadliest stretches in recent months. Authorities reported three fatalities and at least five injuries, even as data shows homicides and non-fatal shootings remain significantly lower than this time last year.
According to updated police statistics released Friday, the city has documented 124 homicides in 2025, compared to 180 at the same point in 2024. Non-fatal shootings are also down by approximately 90 incidents.
Quadruple Shooting Leaves Two Dead
A major incident unfolded around 5:40 a.m. Saturday when officers were called to a home in the 1800 block of McHenry Street in Southwest Baltimore. Four people had been shot, including a man who died at the scene and a 42-year-old woman who later died at the hospital.
A man and woman were also transported in critical but stable condition.
“I’m really shocked because there hasn’t been that much violence here recently,”
said Carrollton Ridge resident Christina Lawson. “The violence has been down.”
A dispatch recording indicated one victim called 911, saying he “can’t stop the bleeding,” reporting gunshot wounds to his arm, leg, and chest.
17-Year-Old Shot in the Hand in East Baltimore
Police responded Friday afternoon to the 1700 block of Montpelier Street, where a 17-year-old boy was found suffering from a gunshot wound to his hand. He was hospitalized in stable condition.
Detectives have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Man Killed in Overnight Shooting
Just after midnight on Sunday, officers were called to the 3000 block of Rosalie Avenue, where a 28-year-old man was found with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Additional Sunday Shooting Injures 33-Year-Old
Later Sunday morning, police responded to the 2200 block of East North Avenue, where they discovered a 33-year-old man shot in the leg. He was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
Northeast Baltimore Shooting
On Saturday evening, officers investigated reports of gunfire in the 6600 block of Harford Road, where a 28-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to the leg. He too survived and is recovering.
City Leaders Defend Anti-Violence Strategy
Despite the violent weekend, Baltimore leaders emphasized that 2025 continues to show major reductions in violent crime, crediting community-based intervention strategies and law enforcement collaboration.
Mayor Brandon Scott highlighted a 29.8% decrease in homicides and a 25.2% decline in non-fatal shootings compared to last year.

“This progress is the direct result of our entire CVI ecosystem… working toward a shared vision for a safer Baltimore,” Mayor Scott said. “One life lost to violence is one too many.”
City officials also noted that more than 2,300 illegal guns have been seized this year. Aggravated assaults, auto thefts, carjackings, and robberies have all seen double-digit reductions.
Looking Ahead
As Baltimore enters the final month of the year, law enforcement and community groups say they are “doubling down” on efforts to curb violence and sustain long-term progress. The investigations into all weekend shootings remain active, and police urge anyone with information to come forward through anonymous tip lines or online reporting.
