Lawrence County, KY — Kentucky State Police (KSP) fatally shot a 69-year-old man on Saturday night after he allegedly pointed a firearm at officers during a warrant-related operation, authorities said. The incident occurred in Matha, Kentucky, along KY 1715, and involved Timothy Keeton, who confronted troopers outside a neighboring residence unrelated to their investigation.

Troopers had arrived at a home to serve warrants for a woman facing an assault charge. During the operation, Keeton emerged from a neighboring property and allegedly told officers to turn off their lights or he would shoot them, according to a preliminary KSP report.
After briefly returning to his residence, Keeton reportedly came back armed with a firearm. Officers ordered him to drop the weapon, but when Keeton raised it toward troopers, multiple KSP personnel discharged their agency-issued firearms, striking him.
