Union City, NJ – An 83-year-old Union City woman was killed Saturday in a hit-and-run crash, authorities confirmed. The fatal incident occurred near the intersection of 30th Street and Palisades Avenue, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.
Pedestrian Struck in Early Evening
Officials said police responded to a call reporting a pedestrian struck at approximately 5:40 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found Fabiola Bedoya, 83, with serious injuries. She was immediately transported to Jersey City Medical Center. Despite emergency medical efforts, Bedoya was pronounced dead shortly after 6:15 p.m.
The driver responsible for the crash initially fled the scene, prompting a search by law enforcement.
Vehicle Located, Person of Interest Identified
Authorities later located the vehicle involved and identified a person of interest in connection with the incident. Investigators have not released further details about the individual, including whether charges have been filed.
