Brevard County, FL — A tragic accident claimed the life of a 71-year-old man from Satellite Beach after his electric bicycle was struck by a Jeep Wrangler on Thursday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
Crash Occurred Along State Road A1A
The fatal crash occurred around 6:03 p.m. near the intersection of State Road A1A and Berkerely Street in Brevard County. Authorities reported that the Jeep Wrangler was traveling southbound on SR-A1A when the elderly man attempted to cross the highway from the sidewalk.
According to troopers, the E-Biker entered directly into the path of the oncoming vehicle, resulting in a severe collision.
Victim Identified as 71-Year-Old Satellite Beach Resident
Following the crash, emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries. Officials identified the man as a 71-year-old resident of Satellite Beach, but his name has not yet been released pending family notification.
The Jeep driver, who remained at the scene, was not injured in the crash. Authorities confirmed that the driver is cooperating fully with the investigation.
