HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 52-year-old man was taken into custody on Monday afternoon following a multi-city police chase that ended after he attempted to break into several homes and threatened a resident with a knife, according to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).
Chase Details
The pursuit concluded around 1:30 p.m. near Corto and Reimold streets, just off I-94. The chase unexpectedly cut through the St. Clair Shores Golf Club, startling golfers on the course.
A witness, Mike, said:
“And we see this guy just flying down the middle of the fairway. It was a scary situation for sure.”
Home Invasion Attempt
After the chase ended, the suspect attempted to break into multiple homes in the Harrison Township neighborhood.
Amy Casaceli, working from home, said:
“I was on a conference call with my boss and I heard the front door being jerked around violently.”
While Casaceli’s home remained secure, her neighbor Bruce Seguin had the suspect break into his house. Seguin recalled:
“I was just sitting at my kitchen table working on my computer… and all of a sudden, my back door flew open. He demanded keys to my car and pulled out a knife when confronted.”
Seguin acted quickly, pinning the suspect’s arms and neutralizing the threat, describing the encounter as surreal.
Community Reaction
Residents described the neighborhood as typically safe and quiet, but said the incident has shaken their sense of security.
MCSO praised the efforts of local law enforcement:
“I commend the diligent efforts of our Deputies, Dispatchers, St. Clair Shores Police Department, Clinton Township Police Department, and all surrounding jurisdictions. Thanks to the coordinated efforts during the pursuit, deputies successfully apprehended a dangerous individual, removing a serious threat from our communities,” said Sheriff Wickersham.
The initial cause of the chase remains under investigation.
