Oro Grande, CA – A 47-year-old woman, Kristy Oliphant, has been arrested for allegedly attempting to poison a former partner with fentanyl and oxycodone, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. The suspect is currently in custody at the High Desert Detention Center with her bail set at $1 million.
Alleged Poisoning Incident
Deputies responded to the 22200 block of National Trails Highway in Oro Grande, an unincorporated community in the Mojave Desert, on December 12 around 7:45 a.m. The investigation revealed that the older adult male victim claimed he had been poisoned in October and only became aware of the alleged attack during a recent argument with Oliphant.
According to investigators, the victim and Oliphant had been in a prior romantic relationship. Authorities allege that Oliphant went to the victim’s residence and administered fentanyl and oxycodone without his knowledge, placing his life in significant danger.
Arrest and Charges
Following the investigation, Oliphant was taken into custody and booked on attempted murder charges. Officials emphasized the severity of administering controlled substances secretly, noting the high risk of death or serious injury associated with fentanyl and oxycodone.
Law Enforcement Statement
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department highlighted the danger of non-consensual drug administration and reminded the public that law enforcement will pursue those who attempt to harm others through such methods.
Community Safety and Awareness
Authorities urge residents to remain vigilant regarding personal safety, especially in cases involving former partners or acquaintances. Any suspicious activity or attempts to administer harmful substances without consent should be reported immediately.
