PALM BAY, Fla. – A 46-year-old Florida woman, Laura Ellis, was arrested after deputies discovered fentanyl and cocaine hidden in her makeup bag during a traffic stop in Palm Bay, authorities said.
Slow Driving Leads to Arrest
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office (BSO) reported that a deputy was patrolling Eau Gallie Boulevard when Ellis was observed driving 20 mph below the speed limit, prompting a traffic stop.
A K-9 unit was called to the scene and alerted to drugs in the vehicle, according to CBS12. A subsequent search revealed:
- 4.88 grams of fentanyl
- 2.3 grams of cocaine
- A glass pipe
Previous Charges and New Arrest
Ellis, who was already out on bond for previous possession of cocaine and methamphetamine, was booked on the following charges:
- Trafficking in fentanyl
- Possession of cocaine
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey commented: “Hopefully, her stay at Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge will be a little bit longer than the last time!”
