33-Year-Old Arrested Following High-Speed Chase Through Tipton and Lauderdale Counties

Dyer County, TN – A 33-year-old man wanted for armed robbery in Kentucky was arrested Thursday morning after leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase through Tipton and Lauderdale counties, authorities said.

Chase Details

Tipton County Sheriff Shannon Beasley said deputies received information that a felon wanted in Kentucky was driving a stolen car in the Tipton and Lauderdale County area.

Lauderdale County deputies located the vehicle and attempted to stop the suspect, identified as Joseph Bradley Gurley, 33. Gurley fled the scene, prompting a pursuit into Tipton County.

Crash and Arrest

Gurley drove over spike strips on Highway 51 near Jack Bennett Road and ultimately crashed into a ravine, according to Sheriff Beasley.

He was transported to a hospital in Memphis and charged with:

  • Felony evading arrest
  • Felony reckless endangerment
  • Reckless driving
  • Driving on a suspended driver’s license

No one else was injured in the crash.

Outstanding Warrants

Authorities noted that Gurley has additional warrants in Dyer County for two counts of aggravated assault and in Kentucky for armed robbery and auto theft.

Sheriff Beasley also confirmed that Gurley either currently lives or previously lived in Tipton County.
