Houston, Texas – Tragedy struck West Houston late Saturday night when a 3-year-old boy was hit and killed by a pickup truck while walking with his mother, according to the Houston Police Department.
Child Fatally Struck While Walking With Mother
The heartbreaking incident occurred around 10:40 p.m. on Ocee Street near Pagewood Lane, a residential area in West Houston. Investigators say the toddler was walking alongside his mother when he suddenly broke free and ran into the street.
At that moment, a Toyota pickup truck traveling along Ocee Street struck the child, leaving him critically injured, according to the reports.
Driver Fled Scene Without Rendering Aid
Authorities say the driver of the Toyota truck did not stop to render aid after hitting the child. Instead, the motorist fled the scene, sparking a citywide search for the suspect and the vehicle involved.
Emergency responders arrived within minutes, but despite life-saving efforts, the 3-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene. The child’s identity has not been released pending notification of family members.

The Houston Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Division is actively investigating the fatal hit-and-run. Detectives are working to identify the driver and vehicle, reviewing surveillance footage from nearby homes and businesses along Ocee Street and Pagewood Lane.
