Aledo, IL — Two men arrested in connection with a major drug bust in Aledo last week have been granted pretrial release with GPS monitoring, pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for August 11, according to Mercer County court records.
Over 13 Pounds of Drugs Seized
Preston Huston, 22, of Aledo, and Dequan Huntley, 22, of Chicago, were arrested following a joint investigation by the Aledo Police Department and the Quad Cities Metropolitan Enforcement Group (MEG) into suspected drug activity at a residence within the city.
According to the police department’s official release, the raid led to the seizure of:
- 119 grams of MDMA (tested positive for methamphetamine)
- 4,697 grams of marijuana
- 1,506 grams of THC wax
- 63 grams of cocaine
- Drug packaging materials and digital scales
In total, authorities recovered over 13 pounds of illegal substances during the bust.
Charges Filed Against the Defendants
Preston Huston faces the following charges:
- Class X felony: Possession with intent to deliver 100–400 grams of methamphetamine
- Class 1 felony: Possession with intent to deliver 2,000–5,000 grams of cannabis
Dequan Huntley is charged with:
- Class X felony: Possession with intent to deliver 15–100 grams of cocaine
- Class 2 felony: Possession with intent to deliver 500–1,000 grams of cannabis
Both men were released following a detention hearing held Friday in Mercer County Circuit Court. The judge granted them pretrial release with GPS ankle monitors, a decision that allows them to remain free under supervision until their next court appearance.
Community Reaction and Legal Process Ahead
The arrests have drawn attention from local residents due to the volume of drugs seized and the interstate connection between a local and out-of-town suspect.
Law enforcement officials have not released additional details about how long the suspects were under surveillance or whether further arrests may follow.
