Bakersfield, CA – A major drug operation in Bakersfield resulted in the arrest of two local gang members and the seizure of over 45 pounds of methamphetamine, along with other narcotics and firearms, authorities reported.
Multi-Agency Investigation
The investigation, led by the Kern County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) Gang Suppression Unit, began in June 2025 targeting a local criminal street gang allegedly involved in narcotics sales. Deputies identified the gang’s supplier, leading to an expanded operation with assistance from multiple agencies.
On Thursday, September 11, 2025, the KCSO Gang Suppression Unit, Bakersfield Police Department (BPD) Major Narcotics Unit, and the DEA served search warrants at three locations:
- 100 block of East Pacheco Road
- 3100 block of Cottonwood Road
- 3400 block of Lotus Lane
Seized Narcotics and Weapons
The following items were recovered as reported by Bakersfield Now:
- Over 45 pounds of methamphetamine
- 12 pounds of fentanyl
- 3 pounds of black tar heroin
- 3 firearms
Arrests and Charges
Luis Marquez, 38, and Ruben Garcia, 55, were taken into custody for their alleged involvement in the sale and distribution of narcotics.
Marquez faces charges of:
- Sales and transportation of narcotics
- Felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition
- Conspiracy
Garcia faces charges of:
- Sales and transportation of narcotics
- Possession of a controlled substance while armed with a firearm
- Felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition
- Conspiracy
Both men were booked into the Kern County Sheriff’s Office jail.
