According to family statements and local authorities, the collision occurred when Jaylah’s mother, Takila Donald, allegedly backed out of a driveway improperly, and the vehicle they were in was struck by a drunk driver in a BMW, identified as Brandon Robinson.

Authorities from the Georgia Department of Public Safety reported that Takila Donald failed to yield while exiting a private driveway onto Fairview Road, when Robinson, traveling westbound, collided with the passenger side of their Hyundai Sonata, where Jaylah was seated.
Officials confirmed that Jaylah Donald was pronounced deceased at the scene, and her pregnancy was discovered afterward. The impact left her unborn child also deceased.
