Horizon City, TX – An 18-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly using her car to repeatedly ram into another driver’s vehicle and then attempting to strike him directly during a March incident in Horizon City.
Victim Followed, Harassed Before Attack
According to the Horizon City Police Department, officers responded around 11:50 p.m. on March 14 to reports of a motor vehicle collision in the 13000 block of Horizon Blvd. When they arrived, the victim told police he had been followed and harassed by Ximena Garcia-Baca while driving.
Witnesses at the scene and video footage confirmed that Garcia-Baca intentionally used her vehicle to strike the victim’s car multiple times. Police say she even attempted to hit the victim directly as he exited his vehicle.
Suspect Fled the Scene, Later Surrendered
After the assault, Garcia-Baca fled before officers arrived. Following a detailed investigation and corroboration from witnesses, detectives issued an arrest warrant for her on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Nearly five months later, on August 1, Garcia-Baca voluntarily turned herself in to Horizon City police. She was taken into custody without incident and transported to the El Paso County Detention Facility.
As per KFoxTV, her bond was set at $75,000, and she is now facing serious felony charges in connection with the case.
Vehicle as a Weapon: Legal Consequences
Under Texas law, using a vehicle as a weapon during an assault significantly increases the severity of the charges. Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon is a second-degree felony, which can carry penalties of:
- 2 to 20 years in prison
- Up to $10,000 in fines
- Long-term impacts on driving privileges and criminal records
Law enforcement emphasized that intentional vehicle-related violence is treated with the same seriousness as assaults involving firearms or knives.
