Winter Storm Warning Predicts 6-15 Inches of Snow Possible in CT, Tonight into Thursday

URGENT – WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE, National Weather Service New York NY, 6:13 AM EST Tue March 6, 2018:

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 10pm this evening to 4am EST Thursday, for New York City, Northeast New Jersey, The Lower Hudson Valley, Southwestern Connecticut, Middlesex, Nassau and northwestern Suffolk Counties.

Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 7 to 12 inches expected. Localized amounts up to 14 inches across Bergen and Northern Fairfield Counties are possible.

Snow will arrive from midnight tonight to 4 AM EST Thursday. The heaviest snow is expected in the afternoon when snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour are possible.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Travel will be very difficult to impossible, including during the evening commute on Wednesday. Travel will also be difficult during the morning commute. Be prepared for significant reductions in visibility at times. Power outages due to heavy snow weighing down trees or their limbs will be possible.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS … A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather conditions will make travel very hazardous or impossible. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Check local Department of Transportation information services for the latest road conditions.
