Northern Italian Continental Cuisine – Bar
PORTOFINO opened September 2011 with our terrific Northern Italian Continental MENU. Known for its warm and inviting atmosphere, PORTOFINO RESTAURANT is becoming one of the favorite places for both locals and neighboring towns.
Upon entering the restaurant you will be impressed by the charm and character of the beautiful bar and wood interior, crafted from a 100 year old walnut tree. The main dining room allows for a quieter more intimate dining experience.
At PORTOFINO RESTAURANT fresh and simple food is our concept. The restaurant still uses a real butcher from New York City and hunts point marketplace to hand pick our meats, poultry, and seafood.
PORTOFINO RESTAURANT has a large selection of fine wines from around the country and the world as well as a distinctive cocktail menu.

Linda & Mike Rizzo are the proud owners of 227 Wine Bar located in downtown Bethel, Connecticut. After a glorious trip to Napa Valley with very good friends, they decided that they wanted to somehow share their love of wine with the world.
Mike, and his sister Maria, grew up making wine with their father creating many fond memories. Mike has passed that experience down to his son Michael and two daughters, Nicole & Angela as well. Coming from an Italian family, wine has always been a constant accompaniment with food.
So you can see where we are going with this. We invite you to come into 227 and share our tradition with us. Relax a while. Breathe. Enjoy the experience.
Good food, great wine shared with friends & family. Life does not get any better than that!
