The gun basically looks like a cell phone when closed. Their website states “Because the right of defense is the first law of nature.” and “Carry with confidence, conceal in style.” and “The best gun is always the one you have with you.” and ““It’s better to have a gun and not need one, than to need a gun and not have one.”
The Ideal Conceal pistol is a double-barreled .380 caliber gun and will be available for purchase mid-2016, the company Facebook page states. List price is $395.00. It is “100% American made, 100% American Parts, 100% American owned” the company website states. According to the Facebook page Ideal Conceal is Patent Pending.
The Facebook feed on the company page already shows an interest for a higher caliber product, but also mixed opnion: On March 29 at 7:37 p.m. there was this comment already asking for higher caliber:
The company describes the gun’s features: “This product is a defensive weapon designed with the utmost safety in mind. Additional features include: Light one piece frame, Simple trouble free design, High velocity .380 caliber for great stopping power, Hammerless firing system for ease of use and added safety.”
A check on snopes.com reveals the following claim is FALSE: “Criminals are illegally making cell phone-like guns in order to trick police.” And TRUE: “A company created a prototype for a cell phone-like gun designed for licensed gun owners who wish to carry weapons discreetly.” There is also an “Officer Alert” issued on February 26, 2016 by Karl de la Guerra: “As if things aren’t tough enough out there already, someone has come up with a pistol that presents itself like a cell phone, but rapidly turns into a double barrel .380 with laser.”
The Ideal Conceal company also issue safety tips: “Safety tips for concealing any pistol: 1. Always assume a gun is loaded when handling. 2. KEEP OUT OF RANGE OF CHILDREN OR UNAUTHORIZED PERSONS. 3. In the event of needing to fire a pistol, always be certain of your target and what lies behind your target.”
The Ideal Conceal company describes itself as: “Specializing in concealed weaponry, we aim to deliver a high quality handgun that can be deployed very quickly for the defense of you or your family. The idea for Ideal Conceal follows the present-day demand for handguns that people can carry on a day to day basis, in a manner that makes carrying a gun easy to do. Carrying it correctly and out of the view of other people is something that should be considered if you are required to carry a gun. Some people may decide to wear concealment jackets to cover up their weapon if they don’t want anyone else to be aware that they are carrying one in the first place. Gun users may want to consider this if they want to provide the public and themselves with the upmost safety.
This idea of taking a commonplace item and making it into a gun is not new. Many are familiar with what seemed like science fiction at the time, seeing guns made out of all sorts of object, in the movies and such. But perhaps using an object that is so well used by most Americans today, a cell phone, poses an added concern to law enforcement an the public? There are of course differing opinions on that and this is likely to remain a controversial topic.

Mark Apsolon I like the idea and I will probably buy one later after the hype dies down. My question is does this “pistol” fall under the AOW catagory in the NFA. If the ATF will classify a wallet pistol as a AOW then I dont see how this pistol passes their weird rulings on AOW’s. End the NFA nad CGA and give us our gun rights back!

Maybe a few dozen, but I’m pretty sure you’re not sneaking that many of these in *anywhere*. Everyone here who’s worried about “all these wackos carrying guns”, consider how easy it is to conceal a knife. “But I can defend myself against a knife” right? Not when the wacko comes up from behind; a good guy with a gun might see it and save you, though. As someone who doesn’t carry (or even currently *own*) a gun, I’m glad there are plenty of others who do; without them, criminals (who ignore laws anyway) would know it was safe to pull their guns on us at any time.
