Traffic Detour: Daytime Closures of Second Avenue in Danbury, Jan. 20

Message from CT State Representative Dan Carter:

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Due to a new CT Department of Transportation (DOT) reconstruction project, Second Avenue in Danbury will be closed from Rowan Street to North Street (Route 37) on weekdays between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. beginning tomorrow, January 20, 2016.

Traffic will be detoured through the use of signs onto North Street, Balmforth Avenue, Maple Avenue, Patch Street, and then onto Rowan Street.

The aim of the project is to widen the I-84 Eastbound and Westbound Exit 5 and Exit 6 off-ramps. Route 37 (North Street and Padanaram Road) will also be widened in the area of Exit 6 and traffic signals will be upgraded and/or added at intersections from Balmforth Avenue to the North Street Shopping Center. Also, a new storm drainage system will be installed on Second Avenue – making the road closures a necessity.

Work is scheduled to be completed on or around August 31, 2017. Please proceed cautiously when driving through this vicinity.

Thank you!

Best Regards,
