Sister of  CT State Senator Michael McLachlan Passed Away Suddenly at 67

Condolences to the family of Margaret Ann “Marnie” McLachlan Cerchiara, who died on Good Friday, sister of CT State Senator Michael McLachlan.

OBITUARY

Margaret Ann “Marnie” McLachlan Cerchiara

Margaret Ann “Marnie” McLachlan Cerchiara, 67, of Mooresville, NC, died suddenly on April 14, 2017. She was the beloved wife of Richard H. Cerchiara with whom she recently celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary. Born in Danbury, CT, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Helen McLachlan and she lived in Mooresville since her retirement in 2004.

She graduated from Saint Peter School and Danbury High School and attended Southern Seminary in Buena Vista, VA. Following a short assignment at Southern New England Telephone Co., she joined New York State Electric & Gas Company in Brewster, NY and moved on to NYSEG’s headquarters in Binghamton, NY. Marnie enjoyed her retirement home in Mooresville and her many new friends. She was a proud member of the Mary Slocumb Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and enjoyed their historical reenactment activities. Marnie also found great joy as a member of the Mooresville Garden Club as she learned how to make her home a gardener’s oasis.

In addition to her husband, Rick, Marnie is survived by her step-daughter Susan Harkey (Todd); step-son Michael Cerchiara; granddaughter Katie Harkey; her six siblings, Grace Colson (Andrew) of Hollywood, FL; Harry McLachlan, IV (Patricia) of Danbury; Susan Brown (Robert) of Sayre, OK; Ann Cowan of Elk City, OK; Thomas McLachlan of Lake Worth, FL and Senator Michael McLachlan (Alesia) of Danbury; nine nieces and nephews and numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Memorial services were private.
